If you have benzyl alcohol, C6H5CH2OH or tert-butyl alcohol, (CH3)3C-OH, all you need is concentrated HCl and a little ZnCl at room temperature.

It really depends on the molecule and if you're talking about organic chemistry or general chemistry. If it's organic remember that OH is a terrible leaving group- you'll need to protonate before you can kick it out- so you'll have acidic conditions (HCl). Then the Cl- will be your nucleophile, attacks the C and the OH2+ is kicked out (if Sn2 mech). If Sn1, then OH2+ leaves, you've created a C+ and Cl- attacks.
