One of the underlying themes of Frankenstein that might be an interesting topic is Dr. F's continuing to experiment when everyone was telling him it was immoral. Very similar to stem cell research going on today.
Another related topic might be the legal rights of clones.

Weird science experiments can be one since the scientist in the book Frankenstein experimented in strange and obscure. Maybe research strange experiments that was conducted.
