why do the two major minority groups in the us have a history month. Black history month and Hispanic month. Why would some call it racist to have a white history month? or should we get rid off all the damn race history months all together?

because the liberal left has demonized white people. the same white people who built this nation, drafted the declaration of independence, the constitution, and the bill of rights. it makes me sick that Washington's and Lincoln's birthday have been combined as Presidents day, while we have a far less of a man's birthday known as martin luther king day.

I'm beginning to think that black history month seems to fuel the racial chasm more than it unites

I would rather there not be any special racial months where one group is put in front of all the other groups in America...either that, or just have a month for every race....ppl gotta realize that you can't play favorites with any one group of ppl without alienating the other groups, and that is what makes the alienated group have negative feelings about the favored group...I thought this was common sense?

Personally, I don't care either way - but if anyone's been paying attention on YA, you'll see a lot of questions like this - but usually more negative. Also, why when someone asks a question like this (in a non-racist way) there has to be anti-white comments? You are not helping anyone

because, let's face it, 90% of American history is white history. We have a Black History month because we learn enough about Abraham Lincoln the rest of the year and not as much about Martin Luther King.

Also, May is Asian Heritage Month...

I think they should get rid of all those "minority" type months.
Does any thing good come of these months? No! In school we are taught history, that's were you could learn about different cultures and such. Setting aside a specific month just focuses on the bad "white" people did to that particular race. It just promotes racism!

Because History as it is taught throughout the year has been written by White people., so most of the History that we learn is already White

Because of our past...........our dark past. The one in which racism did not allow us to teach black history or hispanic history.
I agree that the time has come to teach history and not racism. Because when we teach just black or hispanice history we are setting it aside as if it were different! Why? I use to teach Black history during Feb. , but then I realized I was the one being racist. I teach history of all cultures throughout the year.

Yeah-erase race.
We need to be Americans. We can be black Americans or white Americans, or yellow or brown-as long as we are Americans.

edit- some of us don't seem to fit. We try to be real people. But, there always seem to be those a little lighter or a little darker who want to call you a name. I didn't make me the way I am, but I am happy-why can't you be happy? "Love covers over a multitude of sin".

Most of the history you learn is white history, so no, there should not be a white history month.

White history is the majority of what is taught. So what is wrong with secluding some time out to teach some other history from other cultures who also contributed to this country.
