1. The adrenal cortex secretes hormones called steroids. Mineralocorticoids are one of the three steroids secreted and the chief mineralocorticoid is aldosterone, which plays an important role in the regulation of blood volume and pressure and in the concentration of electrolytes, especially salt.
2. The male sex hormones secreted by the adrenal cortex are called androgens, primarily testosterone.
