I am not, nor have I ever been popular, so I cannot say.

I have spent a lot of time on yahoo answers lately because I've been immobilized by a foot injury. It was either this or watch soap operas.

I am of a religious answer group, however, there are no questions asked pertaining to Best Answers.

The best answers chosen by others may not be the best answer as asked by the person asking the question,
Often the Best Answer, is choosen mainly because this answer is regarded by many as truth, often it is their truth, but not the person asking the question truth.

Therefore, it should be the person who asks the question to decide who has the Best Answer, or if it is even given.

It is assumed by the creators of this website, that because a person ask a question they do not know the answer, but often a question is asked to see how many people know the correct answer, thereby, establishing a base to which the person asking the question can converse with people who think the same on a given issue.

I'm here to genuinely answer questions. I have limited interest in:
** Racial slurs and racism when questions and answers are given
** Insults and cruelty towards minorities, gay and lesbian folks, those with strong religious convictions
** the extreme right that insist that one race, color, religion, belief is the only way

Basically, I enjoy a good laugh, and do want to contribute... but I grow tired of all the stupidity, ignorance and cruelty.

Finally, I don't keep score... anyone can be chosen best as many times as possible. Answer questions well and you'll get chosen: be an idiot and others will eventually see your pattern and start to give you a thumbs down (I also report real abusers)

I use it for boredom relief and to actually answer questions. I catch up with friends outside of yahoo answers, but I have met quite a few nice people here!

I'm fairly new to yahoo answers, joined a while back but just recently started utilizing it. I come on because I actually enjoy answering questions, and sometimes when I get bored. I haven't been on here long enough to know whether or not it has become a social club, but I'm sure it has to some extent. People start to recognize people on here, make friends, and it's possible best answers are chosen, not because of best answers but of who actually answered. I don't know of specific incidents, of course, but I'm sure it happens.

I think that when it comes down to it, the best answers are chosen. And even if they are not, the asker can always read the rest of the answers given. I use Yahoo! Answers to answer questions and to help people.

That's what some do, I must admit. However, I do not do that. When I pick a best answer, I choose the one that I think is best. If it is by a top contributer, then it is just by chance.

Y!A is actually becoming quite a joke.

I really like to answer questions.
I answer to help, have fun, laugh & learn.
Popular participants get popular b/c they do a good job of asking & answering.
Let's face it, where else could you pick how you look or use pure fantasy?

sometimes, yes I see a lot of it. I don't let it get to me though. I have better things than to cry about who gets the most best answers.

I just use yahoo answers to pass time...
