I'm so sorry about your friend, I know it hurts. There are so many sad songs but I knew a guy who died that had a son that he named Daniel after Elton John's song "Daniel". Every time I hear that song it makes me very, very sad for so many reasons......

That is a sad story. On a related, yet humorous note, everytime I hear the tune "Take meout to the ball game" I think of a funeral I went to where they played that as the family and then everyone left the church. The saddest song I know is "The Drowning Man" by the Cure when it was redone by Unto Ashes and then Unwoman. That and "Bastille Day, 1961" by Black Tape for a Blue Girl.

For me it has to be Aaliyah's I Miss You it came out right after she died the video is just as sad check it out
Also So Alone by Men At Large one of the guys in the group mom died, also the writer of the song mom passed. It brings sentimental value to me because the writer of the song I knew his mother she had an asthma attack n couldnt get to her machine in time. Looking at it now theres even more sentiment because Gerald Levert sang on the song n now hes gone.

"Town without Pity"
ALBUM: GUITAR SLINGER (1996)
Brian Setzer Orchestra
Dimitri Tiomkin, Ned Washington
When you're young and so in love as we
And bewildered by the world we see
Why do people hurt us so
Only those in love would know
What a town without pity can do
If we stop to gaze upon a star
People talk about how bad we are
Ours is not an easy age
We're like tigers in a cage
What a town without pity can do
The young have problems, many problems
We need an understanding heart
Why don't they help us, try to help us
Before this clay and granite planet falls apart
Take these eager lips and hold me fast
I'm afraid this kind of joy can't last
How can we keep love alive
How can anything survive
When these little minds tear you in two
What a town without pity can do
How can we keep love alive
How can anything survive
When these little minds tear you in two
What a town without pity can do
No it isn't very pretty
What a town without pity can do

There are several from the modern day Patsy Cline, that being the great Patty Loveless. "You don't even know who I am", "Nothing but the wheel", "How do I help you say Goodbye?" are some of the best. Check them out. Awesome.
