Kiwi brand mink oil is very good at softening leather and treating it, plus acts as a reconditioner. But with the weak leather you may want to check with a good leather or saddle shop to see if they have any idea's about spot repairing the weak spot's so they don't give you problems in the future.

To smoothing out fur (better not be real animal fur), just use a special brush that will not pull out the fur of the coat, I would suggest using cat brush, but be very gentle with it, just stroke as u will do with ur hair. They can be efficenty, but don't use it, if you don't think it will do good...Anyway for the leather, use a speical mink oil and other kind of leather treatments that will help out in moisting of the leather..don't use water, it does no good. I suggest u to take it to a leather place, someone can help u with it..and u can look up in interent how to treat it

Once the leather dries - that is pretty much the end of it unless the fur is so good that you would want the cost of replacing all the leather.

Try rubbing it with saddle soap or mink oil. My mom had an old purse that was her grandmothers. It had dried out badly and she used some mink oil on it and now it looks nice. If you want more tips, take it to a leather smith they might have more tricks.
