i just took the baby convict cichlids from their parents, they were about 1/4 inch. how long will it take the mated pair in the tank to mate again? the babies were about 2 - 3 weeks old. there is plenty of rocks and plants. 55 gallon with 2 whisper 60 power filters. the female is really fat, and full of eggs, so can she like lay here eggs like tomorrow? or what?

I remember you couldn't wait for them to spawn their first time - soon you may wish that they'd stop! As long as you keep removing the fry or the adults they'll keep going. This will wear them out. If you keep them together, give them high quality foods - they'll need it.

When she does you will know. The male will carry them in his mouth. If the male is not around, they will not hatch but the female will guard the eggs. The male must release sperm on the eggs.
