This IS spyware, apparently associated with a Trojan horse virus. Here is a site that discusses it and offers various ways of removing it: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=233413&messageID=2402303
-- read the whole set of messages before doing anything, then pick the one that seems best to you.
Another site I found was http://www.spydawn.org/ -- it looks OK, but I can't absolutely vouch for it.
Finally, the PCWorld website has links to half a dozen anti-spydawn programs, some free. I trust PCWorld, so those should be clean. http://www.pcworld.com/search?qt=SpyDawn#

um...a virus designed by anti-virus companies to help improve their sales? lol
well i had a similar problem....but with a differet product...what i did was read their entire webpage and discovered instructions on how to remove it if ur not interested... lol.....if urs doesnt say that, then try goin to
Start->ControlPanel->Add/Remove Programs and see if it's listed
if not then id just explore and comb thru the entire hard drive and find the program manually....
if that doesn't work then use System Restore if u have it
if not...then try reformatting urself
if u dont know how then take it to a comp shop to get it done.

you will see multiple references on how to clean this from your system. click one and hope you get it removed easily.
failing that try http://housecall.trendmicro.com run the full system sacn and clean, make sure to have the scanner delete what it can not clean. if you just have it quarantined make sure to emtpy quarantine by deleting the data after the scan.
good luck.
i've not experianced this on my system so i do not know if the links will be any help or not.
good luck

It's not a virus, it's malware designed to frighten you into buying their software. Try any or all of these three, all free to download :
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spybot S&D
Trendmicro's Housecall

thats a virus that cannot be deleted unless you reinstall windows or whatever you use. i have gotten them in the past. the only way i know to get rid of it, is by reinstalling your internet browser thing. like if you use internet explorer,or mozilla. just reinstall it. i think. :(
