Modified BRAT diet:

Bananas (stage 1 or stage 2 baby bananas)
Rice (rice cereal)
Applesauce (Stage 1 or 2)
Toast (going to have to skip this one)

This will help with the diarrhea........as for the rash. Fan his butt with the diaper so it is completely 100% totally dry before you re-diaper. and use Desitin......and use it thick. Like spackle.

First off, do not stop giving the baby medicine. He needs it! If his current infection is not treated properly he could develop pneumonia which is much more serious. Give baby yogurt such as yo baby to replace minerals and such that are being lost. It sounds as though your baby is probably developing a yeast infection in the diaper area. Yogurt will help with this as well. To treat the rash 1. Use a washcloth and water to wipe his bottom. Only wipe when he has a BM. 2. Put some Mylanta on a cotton ball and dab it on his bottom, this will take the red out and soothe it. 3. Follow with Eucerin Aquaphor, this is a barrier as well as a soothent. 4. Follow with a rash cream. Desitin and A& D seem to be the best. You can also use some hydracourtisone in several times a day, this really helps. Good luck!

First of all, what kind of meds were giving him? Were they doctor prescribed or just otc? Are you sure it's a diaper rash and not a yeast infection? Sometimes antibiotics can cause yeast infections. The best thing I can tell you to do is take him to a doctor tomorrow and let the doctor determine which it is and he/she may be able to give you some kind of creme to put on it to help with the discomfort. As not giving the meds to him I would at least try to continue giving the antibiotic (if that's what you had) at least till you discuss this with your doctor. Or a healthcare person. You may even be able to call the ER and ask them what you should do. Good luck!
