There are many more to mention and many of which that I cannot think. Talk to your school librarian. He or she may be able to help you. Delve into something you may have never heard of before. Broaden your horizons and find something that is obscure and that provokes thought. Things by Albert Camus and Franz Kafka may help with that, though you may end up feeling slightly lost afterwards. (Don't worry, we all do with some books.) Read what comes to mind and what you want to. Don't let someone else choose your reading list for you. Your teachers do enough of that during high school and college.

For historical (war) fiction, try Bernard Cornwell. He has a few serries one of which should hit a time period you enjoy reading about. Sharpe is his best known character, who fights for the British during the Napoleonic Wars; but he has other series set in the U.S. Civil War, The Hundred Years War and a very good adaptation of King Arthur ("The Winter King" series).
Douglas Preston's "The Codex" is a good adventure. The plot revolves around the Broadbent boys as they search for their father, a former tomb robber, who has decided to take his wealth and be burried with it. If they want an inheritance, the must track their father deep into the wilds of South America. The follow up "Tyranasaur Canyon" is also very good.
For something a little more fun, try Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum stories. The first book in the series, "One For The Money" is a lot darker and more serious than the rest of the series. Another good book by her is "Metro Girl."

The Hobbit if you haven't read it yet.
Robert Jordan's wheel of time series is a great fantasy series. May take you a while though.
Eragorn is a fun easier book.
The dragonriders of pern by Anne McCaffrey are the next on my to read list.

If you like really good fantasy, I would suggest The Belgariad, Eragon, anything by Anne Mccaffery, The Lord of the Rings, and any other small fantasy series you will can find at your library.
