I think foreign movies should become illegal. Producing, owning, buying, or selling them should be punishable by jail time.

I have never seen a foreign movie. They are stupid and foreigners don't know how to make movies.

Only Americans can make movies.

Wow. Close-minded.
Anyways..
On the contrary, many foreign movies (at least the ones I've seen played in the US) are better than most American movies. That's what I think, at least.

And if you've never seen a foreign movie, how would you know what they're like?

And in case you've forgotten, America is a nation of foreigners. The only people that have been in America for the duration of their entire history are Native Americans. Everyone else has immigrated from another country, or their ancestors did.

I think that might be one of the most ignorant statements I've heard in a long time.

Some of the greatest films ever have been produced in other countries. China especially is beginning to move ahead of America in their ability to film. Their style of film may be different and not to your taste, but they are incredibly made. Just because you don't like subtitles or dubbing, don't make the mistake of believing that these are poor films. In fact, many of these foreign films have redefined modern filmmaking in America for this explicit reason. Akira Kurosawa's epic "Seven Samurai" is a perfect example.

Even today, films such as Fearless, Hero, or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon are changing the way in which American Films are made. These films use cinematography in ways never seen before and plots much more complex than the average American film. European films are doing it too with movies like "Run, Lola, Run" or "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells" changing the way we look at themes and plots.

If anything, Americans risk falling behind foreign filmmakers if they keep making movies like You, Me, and Dupree. The only thing hollywood seems to have left is the typecast movies of good cop gets together with bad cop or the "war film." In my mind, the only exception to this rule are the movies made in correlation with comic labels, such as 300 or V for Vendetta.

I'm guessing you have never heard of Bollywood. It is like Hollywood, but it is in India. India produces more movies than any other country in a year! I think you should see some foreign movie before you choose a viewpoint, cause all I can figure out about you is that you are uneducated and ignorant.

if you have never seen a foreign movie, then how can you make the judgment that those movies are stupid and foreigners "dont know how to make movies"?? i think you're the one that's being quite stupid for judging "a book by its cover." you just seem like a racist fool to me.

you're also very ignorant, because of the fact that, dont you realize that most of hollywood's moviemakers ARE foreigners? they arent american or of american nationality.

have a great day.

If other countries decided to ban American films because they are foreign you would be the one shouting the loudest at the unfairness and bigotry involved with that decision. Do you also have a problem with American filmmakers hiring foreign actors? I take it you don't care for Jet Li, Anthony Hopkins, Maggie Smith, Donald and Keifer Sutherland, Jim Carrey, Sophia Loren, Peter Sellars or Michael J. Fox -to name a few.

Good idea.

But of course we must extend this law: No foreign movies in France, no foreign movies in UK and so on. But we shouldn't we stop at movies! No foreign cars in USA, only home grown cars: no Toyota, no Honda and no BMW. Of course Americans should stop learning other nations history, language, literature, culture and so on.

Oh sorry, this last one already intact - American are so ignorant and illiterate on anything related to culture, history of others - actually on their own also...

If you've never seen one, then HOW can you say they are stupid? That just shows your own ignorance right there! LOL!atYOU!
Besides, ALL movies are foreign movies somewhere! Idiot!
Besides, most great American movies were based on a foreign movie too...lol

Go watch your 'Redneck Comedy Tour' dvds and leave the internet alone! ;-)

Sorry, but since you've never seen a foriegn film I don't think you should judge. I happen to like french films, they help me in understanding the culture better and I think they are better than some American films. besides to foreign countries American movies are foreign...so your argument doesn't make much sense.

I disagree with you. First, see a foreign movie. I would suggest doing that before thinking about banning them. No,I don't think they should be banned. Where would Clint Eastwood be if he had not made all those spaghetti westerns?
Also,
Remember, British films are foreign and some are very good. Anyway.....
