what is the best way to clean old stained clay flower pots?

They are so inexpensive that it is not worth it because the clay is porous and has absorbed the stain. Buy new ones - they are cheap.

Clean as good as you can then paint them to match the brick maybe!

Use a hard Grissel brush and clean it with Dawn , it works , I have them and use it . It cleans good .
