i have never cared for the crowed any way
and prefer to be mixed and blended in with all types of people
so i think it is easy to be gay and not be in the crowed
so leaving it would not be a big thing
it is easier to in a crowed for some people as they feel safer

Yes, and no. I would say that if someone who is gay tries to stray from the pack that society has painted up for them, then they are disowned by that group. Sort of like a Catholic who denounces the church, but expects to go to the Sunday picnic after mass every week. Okay, what I mean is, if you are gay, and you try to not follow what other gays do, it may very well discard you from those who are gay. Like if a gay Repbulican existed...it is not common, and may be shunned down upon.
I say a gay person can easily detach, simply because they may have other traits in their personality that make them fit in with other crowds, which normally would not be gay affilated.

It is easier today because there are more straight people who accept a gay person for who he or she is. I am gay, and I have very few gay friends these days, but I have some wonderful straight friends who know I am gay. You have to find the right circle of people who are bright and open-minded. I recommend academic communities (like college kids) or churches. Yes - churches! I have founded that most Christians are amazingly tolerant and accepting!! Even if their denomination is conservative, the Christians themselves practice unconditional love better then their pastors. But you might not do so well in the fundamentalist mega-churches where people who don't know what they stand for gravitate and then jump on the judgemental bandwagon. Jewish people and people of alternative spiritual paths (new agey types) are also wonderful, but they may be harder to find. People generally are kind when you give them a chance. If you have love in your heart and treat them with respect and kindness, they will usually give you the same back! Best wishes!

You can detach yourself from it like any other any crowd if you make some new friends. I am bisexual but I find it easy to hang around with straight people and while I like gays I dont hang around with them. They are just a bit too loud sometimes. But that is only the gay crowd that makes themselves heard, its not like you are steered towards that crowd because ur gay. The reason u might think all gay poeple are visible is becuase you wont see the quiet ones who just hang around with staright people or dont "look gay".
Its true that I find gay people more open minded and often a lot funnier, but they are also a bit more intense and often with more "presence" and to be honest I dont like the way they steal attention from me because I am already prone to being quiet!

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in", nah. its like the mafia, once a gay always a gay. Only kidding, I don't do the gay scene unless I want to. And even then its on my own terms.Plenty of non-scene gays out there.

I know a gay guy who is a total recluse, living in a half-way house. Why? He was diagnosed with HIV 10 years ago.
His only friends are a stray cat and his alarm clock.
Detatchment from society is VERY easy - especially separation from the empty, nasty superficiality of the gay scene where if you're fat or black or a 'queen' or HIV+ you are a huge piece of NOTHING.
