does the front brake have to be wired to the rear brake light?

no. the law requires a brake light, its not specific, but most front master cylinders have a switch..so you'd be daft not to use it. anything that lets the madman in the volvo behind you know your braking can only be good.

ive built trikes for over 20 years... i always ran marker lights and two high intensity fog lamps as brake lights mounted off teh rear axle, and i never had any problems.

ive got a BMW K100rs... and itll be summer soon...

No, you don't need a front brake light, just a rear brake light, that both the front and rear brakes are connected to .

bandits talking rubbish, a motorcycle only has to have a brake light, it doesnt matter whether it is operated from the front or rear, the same also applies to tricycles under the construction and use, but I'd wire both up anyway.

Any service brake control must bring on the brake lamp as normal two wheeled motorbikes have to.

As I understand it you need two independent braking systems, both of which should activate the same light(s) at the back of the vehicle when operated. Therefore yes, they do.

Yes the light must show on BOTH brakes, just like a motorcycle!

basically if its on its got to work. If the lever has a switch attached the switch must be connected if not as long as a stop lamp is fitted and works it should pass. I believe age is another factor think its if the bike was made after about 1982
