Does anyone know why I get the error "failed to load XML file" on this site: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/index.html ? It suppose to be a web calendar (coffee cup software) and it works on my own server, but I need it to work on 50 megs. Please help ASAP.

Sorry for the late reply, here is were the XML file is, but it says forbidden: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/homecal.xml . Theres also this: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/homecal.html but that's just the link to the broken calendar. Here's a link to the test site I used while making the website, the calendar works here: http://www.firstlinestudio.com/veronabaseball/index.html

How to I fix that? I don't have FTP access to change the CHMOD, so what should I do? Contact 50 megs?

Well I made the website for the baseball team, I don't maintain it. I offered the guy that does some webspace, but he already paid for 50megs. That wouldn't have been my first choice either, but I can't do anything about it. I told him to contact 50 megs, so I guess we can see what happens from there. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks for all the help and I found a solution I should have thought of a couple days ago. I linked the calendar to my server and now it works great. I think the hosting is like 2 or 3 bucks a month, which is still a rip off because he paid for a whole year and he could have got something better for the same price at 1 and 1. O well, problem solved and thanks for all the ideas. It will help me troubleshoot in the future.

sure does fail!

an xml file isn't an xml file if it's not served correctly, or it's been damaged.

what is the URL of the xml file on the server?

let's try to pull it down and see how the server serves it!

UPDATE:
your server blocks me AND YOUR PAGE from looking at

http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/homecal.xml

They give the same error you see to your calendar program!

UPDATE 2:
I don't think chmod will help you out here... they just don't let ANYONE access the file! I can access the HTML file without problems!

Prove it to yourself, by loading up the same file as test.html and see if you can see it! If they are that tight with their rules, find a new server!

UPDATE 3

How much can he be paying for a server that doesn't allow ftp access or permit a flash program to read the file? 5 bucks a year???

It's money under the bridge! (how's that for a saying?)

It is a Flash movie, so it probably can't find the XML file it needs to work correctly. Make sure you have all of the files copied to the correct paths relative to your publication folder.

Edit: There is nothing particularly magic or special about Flash... if it is complaining about a missing or invalid XML file, then that is what is happening. Flash is server-agnostic; it does not care if you are opening it from 50megs or your local hard drive. It looks for the files it needs in specific paths, and loads them if they are available; fails if they are not.
