Listen to the CD by the Cranberries called 'To the Faithful Departed' - first off, the music is awesome, but a lot of the songs touch on death etc. You may find something.
For that matter, try the other Cranberry CDs too.

upon reading the qoute i INSTANTLY thought of Pantera's "Cemetery Gates". It undeniably works well with your theme. but i wolnt try to argue for it myself ill let the words alone speak for themselves.

heres the lyrics:

Reverend reverend is this some conspiracy?
Crucified for no sins
An image beneath me
Whats within our plans for life
It all seems so unreal
I'm a man cut in half in this world
Left in my misery...

The reverend he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes
It's nothing new for him to see
I didn't ask him why
I will remember
The love our souls had
Sworn to make
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see
Now is your (face)

Well I guess
You took my youth
I gave it all away
Like the birth of a
New-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died
I couldn't cry
The pride within my soul
You left me incomplete
All alone as the
Memories now unfold.

Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the
Cemetery gates

Sometimes when I'm alone
I wonder aloud
If you're watching over me
Some place far abound
I must reverse my life
I can't live in the past
Then set my soul free
Belong to me at last

Through all those
Complex years
I thought I was alone
I didn't care to look around
And make this world my own
And when she died
I should've cried and spared myself some pain...
Left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain

The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates

the tie-ins are evident and its a fairly reconizable song. best of luck in finding your song.

but this the one u should use :-P

have you tried HIM? they arent emo (and truly no one is cuz true emos usually dont live to get their music on a label) but they are "goth death metal" and theyre kinda slow but VALO has this amazingly creepy deep voice and alot of their music is about death but usually caused by love so try them.

Behind the Crimson Door

covered the carcass of time with flowers to send the scent of blame to the grave set the darkest thoughts on fire and watched the ashes climb to heavens gates we hide behind the crimson door while the summer is killed by the fall alive behind the crimson door while the winter sings: "your love will be the death of me" death served wine for the lovers brought from the world where devils reign and intoxicated angels with sorrow they witnessed in the eyes of their slaves
