I have thought about this question for a long time and think if slavery were legal, i would definitely own another woman and have her as my personal housemaid. I know I am going to take a lot of grief for posting this, but if it were legal and not linked to any race, it could be very interesting.

Not at this point in time. If I had grown up in the South back before the Civil War I might have been raised to think it was OK so I probably would have wanted one then. Since I was raised knowing it's wrong, I just could not do it even if it became legal. I would feel guilty and totally uncomfortable forcing someone to do things for me. I would be scared that they hated me and that they would somehow do something to get revenge, like kill me in my sleep. The whole thing is just too weird. I wouldn't even feel comfortable paying someone to wait on me in my home.

No, not even if it were legal and not linked to another race. Hire someone for that job, why not if I were rich, but to own another human being is so very wrong on so many levels that I can't even begin to go into it here due to lack of time and space for writting. How on earth could you ever concider taking someones freedom and rights as a person away to be "very interesting". No offense intended, to each her own, but that baffles me.

I come from South Africa, and everyone there has a woman who are paid to help in the house they do the ironing cooking etc etc and they help with the kids however they are most certainly NOT classed as slaves! if you call someone a slave it means you pay them nothing if naything at all and you treat them badly! so if thats the type youre talking about then your sick! However if you are tlaking about simple help around the house then no thats fine and i do believe alot of people out there would benefit from that as life can be quite hectick so to have someone else take the load off your house work would be great but you do need to pay them a proper wage and treat them right not like a slave!

I don't care if it were legal and did not pertain to any race. How could you even think about that you phsycopath. You have to remember many years ago it did pertain to race but what 's the difference I would never own a man, woman, Black, White, or Hispanic slave!

No, I wouldn't own a slave, even if it were legal. It wouldn't seem morally right to me. However, if I had the money, I'd consider hiring a domestic worker to cook and keep the house tidy in ways that I currently don't have the time or skill for. I'd pay her (or him) a proper wage for services rendered.

Depends I suppose. If I could get a slave out of a place where they werent bein treated right by buying them, then I would. But I wouldnt just wander on down to Wal-Mart and get one for no particular reason.

And how exactly would that happen if not somehow linked to race? Just out of curiosity, since youve been thinkin for a long time...

No.
Making a person be your slave is 100% wrong.
Nobody wants to be anyone's slave or housewife where they'll be pushed around, yelled at, and be abused.
Everyone deserves to be free no matter what race or what culture or whatever.
I think you know better than this...tsk tsk, shame on you.

Well, there are consensual slave/master relationships. Check out the BDSM community if you're interested. Not my bag of chips, but as long as it is consensual and there are reasonable limits and safeguards in place (both for personal, practical and sexual safety) then whatever floats your boat.

No but my mom use to joke around when I was growing up and say that is why she had children for her own personal slaves when she asked us to do a chore.

If I were Cleopatra I might spend days stoving over a hot slave.
Now I just spend days slaving over a hot stove........
