Depressed has nothing to do with y/a.
Look inside yourself:you know where the depression originates from.

I've heard tales of other "alter-egos". Posters who play roles with more than one avatar. But that would be more than just recreational use, now wouldn't it? That would be 'illegal'.

Maybe not depressed, but very, very lonely. You would be better off being depressed, you would have lots of company.
