it is a figure eight puffer and have had them both for one week.
the color has looked better on both since a day after bringing them home. Within the last hour it lost the bright yellow lines and turned almost all black. only in of its fins are moving, the other looks fine. help!

its color keeps changing from the bright yellow strips with black dots to almost all dark gray and back to normal also it has one fin that moves then all but one will move. does any body know if this is a disease. I have another puffer in the tank and a striped rafel cat in the fesh water tank with aqurium tank salt added

Maybe its just stressed out put in a stress coat liquid where you can buy at the store and drop in a dot of it and in a few minutes the fish would be better

What are your water tests reading? How old is the tank? Anything else in there with them?

It sounds sick/dying - quickly remove it fromt he tank in case it has some sort of infectiona nd passes it on to the other fish.

I hate to give you bad news but it sounds like it is dying. There usually isnt much you can do for a dying fish. Sorry. :-(
Most places replace fish or your money if they die in a certain time frame though.

call the pet store or a vet who cares for fish
