We do our children no favor by shielding them from the consequences of their actions. When Mom and Dad bail junior/princess out of jam after jam, they are programming the kid to be forever unable to solve fix their own messes.
My kids know that if they are ever arrested for things like DUI, possession of drugs, violent crimes, that I am going to let them spend some "quality time" as a guest of the county or state. I hope that makes them think twice before bowing to peer pressure and doing something stupid...

If it was murder, yes. Property can always be replaced, and drugs are sold so openly everywhere anymore, I can't believe the cops are serious about enforcing that law, so they'd better not pick on my kid! But lives, once taken, cannot be replaced. So if it was a murder rap, I'd rat their *** out in a New York minute!

That is a very difficult question. And I am a mother.....
I truly don't know if I could turn them in or not !!
I guess if it was something really bad......maybe?
And you are right........It would be the correct thing to do!
I hope I never have to find out what I would do..
There is one exception..........Child molestation.........yes I would !!.

Yes, because it would be in his best interest to face the consequences of his actions, and hopefully be able to improve his life from that point on.
Hiding is never the correct answer.
