How many people like drag racing??? I am a really big fan of drag racing and hopefully want a camaro when I get older and run it at the strip I am only 15 so I don't know much about it but I go to the national shootouts in MO every year and love it. Is then anyone out there that has some info on drag racing on how old you have to be and any remarks????

I think drag racing is great - watching the Top Fuel cars is still the most intense thing I've ever seen live.

Your best best would be to contact the nearest drag strip, see what different series or events run there, and then find out what each of those series has to offer as far as rules go. That would help define what opportunities are available to you now or in the near future.

I would recommend looking into something like the "street legal drags" night, such as what they have at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

It's pretty simple - there might be somebody in the lane next to you, but you're not actually racing them, you're just racing the clock. It's fun because you can run as many times as you can during the night for about $10, if I remember right (it's been a few years since I've done it). It's a great low-pressure way to get practice and talk to other people who are doing it for the first time or have been doing it for years.

You can run pretty much anything, you line up, do your burnout, make your run, and grab your timeslip on the way back. They do basic tech according to NHRA rules, and depending on how fast your car is, you'll have to meet certain safety requirements, such as having to wear a helmet. You don't have to race, either - you can just hang out and watch and learn. You'll learn a lot - I did it for the first time at the age of 27 or 28 and I had a blast!

Anyway, I don't know if that really answers your question, but I had a good experience doing it and I thought I would share in case that's something that might interest you. Hopefully, there's something like that available to you in Missouri. Good luck and have fun!
