The Air Filter on the 2003 Ford Focus SE 2.3L seem to be located within the left front fender and apparently never needs to be changed.
Well, I know some people that think their underwear never needs changing, I beg to differ!
I'm looking for more info on this phenomenon! The Auto Parts dealers I've checked with have little to no info on this subject.

This is the Engine Air Intake. Not the passenger A/C or Heater air intake!

You can get more information on this from your owners manual.....download it here (free & in PDF format):
https://web.msslib.dealerconnection.com/RightSite/getcontent/myfile.pdf?DMW_OBJECTID=09000c588033c69e
see page 196

See the footnote?
Where it says "see dealer or qualified technician for replacement....."..... /

That would be Rakel !
Really! If you want more info, e-mail her, like she said.

Btw, Love the underwear comment! LOL

although the quicky lube type places want you to believe you need a new air filter every 3000 miles, they last longer than that, but definately not forever! check your owners manual. it will have good info as to how often it should be replaced. keep in mind that if you travel on dusty roads alot, you will need to replace it more often. on your car i would say every 25k or so under normal conditions would be sufficient.

There is no such thing as a permanent air filter. Go to a parts store, buy a filter, and ask the parts guy how it installs.

go to WalMart and have them skin their knuckles for twenty bucks and it will be done. There is no such thing as a filter that doesn't need changing. Good call.
