i have my period for a year and i think im ready for tampons but how should i talk to my mom aobut this?

Do you think your mom would be against your using tampons or are you just nervous, embarrassed?
If it's the former, go to a site like http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/pages/home.jsp to get stats and info for yourself so that you can have answers for your mom's questions.
If it's just because you are nervous, remember, your mom went through the EXACT SAME THING so she completely understands where you are coming from. :D

Tampons aren't really a big deal alot of girls use them but make sure you read the piece of paper inside some tampons may cause tss here is a website check it out.

I came up with an excuse...I just said mom, I need tampons....I really want to go swimming...and I'm very active in sports, so they are helpful

just tell her that pads give you kind of a rash and they make you feel uncomfortable and dirty and you read somewhere that tampons are cleaner... if she doesn't understand it like that she never will... but good luck! if u want send me a comment and i'll help you out with other possibilities

tell her that you want to use tampons and if she does not let you, go to the store and buy it yourself. remember to hide them well.

well just tell her that you think your ready for tamponds. when i told my mom i dont think she thought much of it at all. if you trust your mom it shouldn't be to hard.
