We were dining out and the menu was a filet mignon and a half lobster tail with a summer squash and cauliflower medley and a nice helping of wild rice and she asked the waiter for ketchup. I thought he was going to poop his pants. He said he would check to see if they had any and of course they didn't. I know people can eat whatever they want but I find this quite embarassing. Ketchup to me is a condiment used to cover up the taste of something. She even puts it on $17.99 a pound beef tenderloin. I find this so disturbing that I don't want to eat with her. I guess part of it is, if she does not get ketchup she rants quite loudly on how she was denied it. She even eats it on chicken and appetizer platter foods. She can't cook to save her butt so I understand the ketchup addiction. But when other people cook and you know it is going to be good, shouldn't we skip the ketchup?

I had an uncle that did the same thing... Ruin a perfectly good meal with ketchup. Your not going to change your friend, she obviously isn't the best choice to take out for beef tenderloin, so keep it to burgers and fries and your good to go with her. Find a friend who prefers the finer things in life to dine at more exquisite places.

I'm embarrassed for you. As for her ... pity! Such a pity. There must another underlying reason for the ketchup issues, but still, that's just wrong! Plain wrong! You definitely need to find someone else who knows not only how to appreciate good food, but proper etiquette, to go eat out with. Sorry darlin'!

The only place you should go with your friend would be a fast food hamburger chain. That way she'll look normal and you won't feel weird. She obviously doesn't appreciate fine dining. I wouldn't try to change her at this point, just find yourself a friend that enjoys the art of cuisine.
