Your tale isn't so clean (are you in Korea or the U. S.?), yet as a couples and relatives therapist i'm very acquainted with alimony and infant help topics in the U. S.. i know that's scary, in spite of the undeniable fact that the money is for the youngsters, no longer the ex's own play fund, and maximum state regulations on condition that a spouse is entitled to one/2 of all relatives resources earned at the same time as married. do not forget that when a divorce adult men oftentimes get well financially in decrease than 5 years at the same time as the female's usual of living declines by ability of 40 5-70% and does no longer rebound.

It depends on how the settlement agreement is worded. If there is no specified method of payment, then I would say have the money sent to her via Western Union a couple of times - then she has to go through the trouble of getting the money, then cashing it. Or talk to the court and see if you can have them order direct deposit. You could also go to your attorney and see if, since she obviously doesn't need the money, your alimony can be renegotiated. I personally don't believe in alimony, so I can sympathize with you -best of luck.

send money orders - or contact the judge in many areas you can pay your alimoney to the court - and the court will issue her a check this way you do not have to worry about it bouncing -
check with your bank - some banks allow you to write on the check or will print on your checks "void after 30 days" or "void after 60 days" in which case she will be forced to cash the checks or they are worthless - if you do this make sure you keep copies of every check you give it to her and a signed recipt of when you gave it to her so you can prove that she had the full amount of time to clear the check.
Personally i recommend getting a checking account that earns interest - then keep your check book balanced with a program such as quicken so in your computer it tells you how much you should have (with her check already subtracted the day you hand it over) this way if she takes 60 days to cash it you get 60 days worth of interest on it!!!!

I would have a 30 day grace to cash the cheque. Looks like she doesn't really need the money that bad. The best you can do, is to have a seperate account for those cheques, and make sure that the funds are there...

Write on the check - VOID if not cashed within 30 days
it works, I had a problem with my hairdresser waiting 60-90 days to cash my checks, I wrote that on the check and she always cashes them promptly;

It's just a way for her to think she still has some control of your life, don't take her calls (unless you have kids) so she can't complain to you, if she still doesn't cash the checks soon, maybe she doesn't really need it, or she is just trying to stir you up, since it's obviously working, just let it go. You did your part you paid her.

Write void if not cashed in 30 days on it or send a money order. Keep duplicates of all the checks you write so she can't say she didn't get them.

Maybe she doesn't really need the money, but has a bad habit of spending money to quickly. Maybe she had a friend store it aside for her, until she absolutely needed it and then cashed it. Does she live in another state? Could be the messed up mailing system as well lol

Why r u worried about it? As long as u r doing what u r ordered to do, dont worry about when or if she cashes anything.
She will regret it someday when she loses one from hanging on to it for too long. U have record of giving it to her, so dont worry about when she cashes them.
If you have kids, then maybe she hung on to one for a special thing for one of them. Never know why she is, but I wouldnt let it bother me.
Its her money, let her do what she wants with it.

easiest way to handle the situation is to open an account that is specifically for alimony. that way she can cash the checks whenever she wants without catching you in a bad situation.
