So I'm currently in acting classes. I'm getting my headshots done soon and I want to put together a portfolio but the thing is I'm new to all of this so I have no idea exactly what I need to put in it, I know I need a resume, but I'm not exactly sure how to make one or anything.
I'd prefer answers from those who've had acting experience and have auditioned for agents, please help!

Actors do NOT use portfolios! The main tool of the actor is his/her 8x10 black and white photograph.

The actor's resume is attached to the BACK of the 8x10 headshot. This procedure is NOT followed in every city or state in the USA.

You MUST find out the procedure for actors in the city/state where you live. Ask your actor friends and your acting teacher, for the procedure in your area for submitting your headshot/resume to talent agents.

Actors mail the headshot (with the resume stapled to each of the 4 corners of the headshot,) to Casting Directors, Talent Agents, Talent Managers, Producers, etc.

Why don't you go to some well executed web sites that have their acting portfolios online? You should be able to get terrific ideas from these... I have a hunch that online portfolios are the newest wave for anyone's acting career.

And then, when you have ideas, go to the online site where you can get your own portfolio done... Here it is: http://www.nsignia.com/?gclid=CMXRr_bH_4oCFQ-TIgodLilGEw
