If so, who did you use and what has your experience been? I just found out that our local fabric store (Hancock Fabrics) is closing, and our Wal-Mart is planning to discontinue their fabric section. Any suggestions?

I've ordered patchwork fabric online from a few different places - it's been a while so I'd have to check out the site names. The best advice is that if you want coordinating fabric try to stick with one manufacturer, otherwise visit the manufacturers websites to get a better feel for the actual colors. Depending on the store/site you are buying from the images can give poor representations of color and therefore be hard to match.

Ewww, ick. I thought you were talking about the sewer lines and such. You're not in Simi Valley, CA, are you? If so, I can recommend a couple of good sources in Oxnard. Email me if you are -- click on the name under my avatar for an email link. They're losing their Hancock Fabrics store and have a WalMart nearby, too, so I just wondered.

Anyway, I have looked at fabric online but haven't ordered. I was looking on eBay, of all places. They have a fairly selective search tool that lets you pull up only what you really might be interested in buying, if you want to be specific with it. The stuff there is mainly coming from individuals. All sellers there can be contacted by email, so you can ask questions about an item in which you may be interested. That would seem to me to be the better way to buy it online: from an individual rather than a store. The stores can't take time to answer you well, usually.

I have ordered from Hancock Fabric, Fabric.com, Grandma's Attic and Jo-Ann's as well as buying lots of fabric from Ebay sellers. It's always been a great experience.

I hate to hear that! I like to buy fabric in the store. I like to feel it and see how it drapes. You could try www.jo-ann.com . We have a store near us and they are a nice store.

I have ordered from fabric.com and fabricshack.com. I had some trouble with my orders from fabric.com (damaged material and wrong material sent). They were very quick to fix the errors when I called them.
