Im writing a report and i was wondering if the government gets economic benefits from married people

In someways yes. Living with someone is cheaper than living alone and if there are two incomes then there is more luxury spending which bares more taxes than necessity items do. In other ways it loses money because marriage can lead to kids, which are huge tax write offs, you get the kid themselves plus you can write off daycare, there are lots of write offs with kids. But over all with increased spending power by a couple there will be a pay off of higher taxes paid.

It does if both work. Income from both spouses is combined and in many cases that combined income pushes the couple into a higher tax bracket than if they filed as a single person and with their own income. It is called the "Marriage Penalty" by most people.
