Timing and AC belt are new . Spark plugs and battery are good

This happened to my car back in 2003. There is a problem alright. Mines was turning off when slowing down or idling. I was told that I had a leak in the vacuum. We order the piece and nothing happened like that again.

Could be the idle adjustment is set too low, or it could be a vacuum leak. Most likely it is a vacuum leak. Your best bet is to hunt around under the hood and inspect all the vacuum lines for cracking, or possibly no longer connected somewhere. On newer cars there can be a lot of them, so have fun:)

common fault in older toyotas-replace your voltage resistor(white ceramic fuse type thing-usually bolted on side wall near coil)

it could be the gas filter.also run a test on the fuel pump.
