I am 15 days past retrival and 10 days past transfer (had 2 blastocysts transfered). 9DPT got positive HPT...spotting 10DPT and ER said "threatened miscarriage" and beta level was at zero! How can I get a positive HPT and in 12 hours get a 0 beta? Was I pregnant???

I am so shocked and confused...am I pregnant? Was I pregnant? Is it possible one took and the other didn't??? What is threatened and why does it happen? Is it hormonal? Any help would be appreciated!

Thi does seem weird to me. Are you still on your progesterone support, and are you still going in for your beta test? What type of HPT did you use?

I think it is weird because it seems pretty quick for your HCG level to drop. I would think at least trace amounts of HCG would show up in you blood test if you had had a positive HPT the day before.

It makes me wonder about lab error. I say that b/c a lady I was cycling with last year had to go to the ER for an allergic reaction about 8dp5dt and she had a blood test to see if she was PG (they wanted to give her a drug that could hurt a fetus). Anyway, her blood test came back 0, but she had had a positive HPT earlier that day, so she refused the medication. And she was right...not only PG, but pg with twins!!! I don't think those ER tests are always very accurate.

I would wait and go to your RE for your scheduled beta test. I would also stay on any support (progesterone, estrogen) that your RE may have had you on. This way, you can be absolutely sure that you have done all you can.

Threatened miscarriage is a word that is used anytime a woman is pregnant and has any bleeding and spotting. I had some light spotting after I was sick for a while, and the ER labeled it as a threatened m/c, even though I wasn't miscarrying and it was just due to an irritated cervix.

It is weird they would call it that if your beta said you weren't PG...I can only think that they may believe you had a chemical pregnancy that still had traces of HCG in your system yesterday, but none today. That still does seem weird though.

I would try taking another HPT tomorrow morning. If it is negative, it most likely means you did have a chemical PG (a very early miscarriage due to chromosomal issues with the embryo). If it is positive, get to yor RE asap for a blood test so you can know what is going on for sure.

I hope it was all a stupid mixup at the ER and that everything is OK. Spotting is pretty common during the stage you are in, and it is often harmless. Please let me know what happens!

I cannot really tell you anything but my experience..
I have always had irregular periods so not having a period was completely normal for me..I was experiencing symptoms duch as extreme fatigue, frequent urination and very soar breasts that i did not pay attention too at the time. Finally i started bleeding, i bleed for a week just like a normal period, 4 days into the bleeding it got really heavy i bleed through a tampon within 30 hours for about 4 hours then it went back to normal, well the 7th day of bleeding i started experiencing extremely painful stomach and lower back pains and huge clots so i went to the doctor the next day they did a urine test which came back negative, did a blood test which came back positive and diagnosed me with a threatened miscarriage at about 3 months pregnant. I bleed for about 3 weeks straight, I had to go back every week to get a blood test to see whether the levels dropped or continued to increase, they were dropping very slowely. two months later i went back again and the levels drastically dropped and i lost him a week later..
They did not know why i lost him but said it was most likely due to something going wrong with the baby or he wasn't healthy...
I would say go back and get tested again to see whether your levels have increased or stayed at 0 and maybe try to take another pregnancy test to see if the results change..
good luck to you!
