I am currently debating to either choose to go to Disney World twice in one year - we have many points to spend on a trip down twice, but that means we can't go down again next year. Because of the jacket-weather, we find that going to a water park or chilling (pun intended) by the pool would be not only be a freezing affair, but not smart. We need some ideas for activities down in the Disney area in Florida (besides going to parks, that's a given) that will keep us occupied. We are thinking about an eight-night trip, and covering each park at least once. Also, if you can tell me, have your past experiences going to Disney World in the winter holidays been nice? Thanks!

Absolutely! My most recent trip was early December of 2006. My husband visited all of the parks, but steered clear of swimming pools and the water parks because it was just too cold. We did visit Cocoa Beach on the warmest day of our vacation, but the water was still too chilly to go in. So we just enjoyed having lunch on the beach and taking a stroll along the water instead.
There are lots of other activities you guys can do during the colder months at Walt Disney World. However, it will depend on whether or not you will have a rental car or not. Here are tips for fun activities if you plan to stay on Disney property, or if you can leave with a rental car:

Disney property only:
*Downtown Disney - shop, dine, catch a movie at Central Florida's first all digital theater!
* Catch Cirque De Soleil La Nuba show! This amazing 90 minute show at Downtown Disney will amaze you! Tickets can be purchased through the dining line 407-WDW-DINE or at ticket master.
* Resort Hop: my husband and I love to do this. Take the Disney transportation to all of the different Disney resorts! Enjoy terrific food, great shopping and enjoy the fun atmosphere each Disney Resort Hotel has to offer.
*Golf at any of Disney's championship courses!

Off-Disney Property Things to do - rental car required:

* Boggy Creek Airboat Rides - just outside Kissimmee, enjoy a 30 minute or hour long air boat ride and see gators and other Florida wildlife in their natural habitat! Educational and fun! Tickets are $21 for adults. Visit http://www.orlandoinfo.com for a discount!
* Medieval Times or Dolly's Dixie Stampede Dinner Shows
* Kennedy Space Center
* Universal's Islands of Adventure Theme park - best coasters!
* Rippley's Believe it or not museum on International Drive
* Sky Coaster in Kissimmee
* Visit the city of Celebration!
* Visit old town Kissimmee for fun shopping

Have a great vacation!

Aside from parks, you can check out Downtown Disney, they have dining, movie theather, Disney Quest (alot of fun), cirque du soleil...you could resort hop just to see what each one offers.
Its a beautiful time of year. It's hard to say if it will be cold out because for example, Right now I am in a sweater and long pants and it's about 60out but in January (first week of Jan) I was comfortable in shorts and tshirt and it was in the 80s. If you are coming down for holiday season, I have to say that is my favorite time of year at Disney due to all the Christmas decorations and the "Very Merry Christmas" celebration at Magic Kingdom.

There's lots to do in Orlando besides Disney World. Universal Studios and Sea World are the other two big ones. (At Universal Studios you usually wait for 2 hours for a 5 minute ride, but..). And there are loads of little parks all over. I think it's better to go in the wintertime. It's not super-hot and the crowds aren't as bad.

If youre in to space travel visit kennedy space center an hour away. See of there is a shuttle launch the time you go! The best "ride" there is if youre asking me. Also take a look into discovery cove. Dont know about water temperature but swiming with dolphins, do I need to say more? Johan
