I have a few CD-Rs that I've put music on and I now have more music I'd like to add to them, but the computer won't let me take songs off or put new ones on. Is there any way to totally erase the memory from the disc? Or, even better, to just take off individual files?

a CD-R is a one time recordable disk. that means that once the data is recorded into the disk, it would not be able to be erased. even the disk in not able to be formatted as it has already 'locked' itself from further burning.

if, by any chance, you happened to use a CD+/-RW, and if you have a dedicated burning software, then it is even better. just copy out all the contents of the disk and put it in a folder. format the disk and choose what data you now want inside the disk. then record the disk again.

if you are using Windows Explorer burning software, then repeat the steps, except you have to drag and drop the files into the CD drive in Explorer instead then select burn all files to CD.

Negative. The CD-R format does not allow files to be removed. Best bet is to just re-record on new CD's. You can get them for about 20 cents each (when buying a spindle).

To completely erase the disc, scratch a square through the plastic on TOP of the disc - that will leave it unreadable.

Move the files from the CD back to your computer (if they aren't already there).
Make a new cd with those files and the new ones.
Dis troy the old CD

there is no way to reuse a cd-r, they are a write once, read many form of disk, if you want to rerecord you need to use a cd-rw. you can take off the files, by copying them back to your pc, but they will still be on the cd-r

A CD-R is a recordable (once) CD. If you want to be able to change information, you need to use CD-RW, which means re-writeable. Sorry.

ok it extremely is the solutions: DVD= digital Video D? (lol sorry can no longer keep in mind the final observe). it extremely is a disc, like different DVD in television. The Disc is for Video. DVD R=digital Video D? study. it quite is propose once you insert this DVD, you are able to in basic terms study as many time as you choose yet write in basic terms one time. DVD RW= DVD study write. you are able to rewrite, study and burn every time you choose. DVD-ROM = it is the surely ingredient that as quickly as you put in your DVD. Your stress, like your known DVD participant. different than it smaller and particular at laptop in basic terms (i think of). CD=Compact Disc. in basic terms for Audio. Very short reminiscence. CD-R = is the comparable concept like DVD-R. It in basic terms could be study yet can not be rewrite and write. CD-RW = CD study write. could be rewrite, burn and study as many time. CD-ROM = Is the stress itself. you are able to no longer tell any distinctive between CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. They in all probability are the comparable. some modern-day CD or DVD have compatibility with DVDROM/CDROM. wish this clarify plenty!
