I don't know where exactly I fit in here because I just recently found out I was pregnant..I was extremely worried about it at first but now that I've sat down and thought about it, I'm not really that scared..I guess it could be because I know there's epidurals out there that will help or the fact that I have family and my fiance to help..Not sure..But all I can really say is don't stress it..It's all worth it in the end!

Well, I didn't dread the pain. Did you take child birth classes? Even if you don't have natural child birth the breathing techniques still help. Read up on those and bring an object to put on the wall as your focal point. I brought a fabric wall hanging (horsie) that I had bought for baby's room. If I did it and gave birth to an almost 9 lb big shouldered baby(and I was small with narrow hips) then you can do it easily with anethesia. The forceps were the most painful part to me but that would have been lessened had I had anesthesia. But it was worth all the pain. And the pain is soon forgotten. And had hubby wanted another child, I would have readily done it all over again. Don't think of the pain...think strictly of the baby. I wish you and the baby the very best. They are a true blessing!

Think of trying to squeeze a grapefruit through a hole the size of a dime, now imagine being the hole. Even with pain meds like epidural, you will still feel some pain or pressure, down there, but trust me when you hold you kid for the first time it will be worth it. Now after you have your kid if the doc has to stitch you up then yeah you'll feel pain after the anesthesia wears off. But they will give you something for that. And on calming down I knew a girl who chewed ice for the last month of her pregnacy it may work for you it may not, if if doesn't work try listening to lullabys or singing them in a queit room.

I don't know about the painless delivery because I had mine with no pain killers. I did go with my sister when she had her baby and she did use pain killers. She wasn't in pain until they turned off the medication to have her begin pushing.
Every baby and every delivery is different. You might want to try concentrating on the joy of the event. Try to remember that no matter how uncomfortable you may be, at the end of it all is your very own child.
The more stressed out you are about it, the more pain and negativity you will feel. Just breath, relax, try to find some humor or comfort and remember that women have been having babies for thousands of years.
If it was that bad, every woman would stop at just one :)
Good Luck and congrats!

Having a baby IS painful if you don't have anesthesia, but it IS something you can bear. Since you are going to have anesthesia (presumably an epidural), you're not going to feel the pain. You'll still feel some pressure, and you will still be working hard, but you aren't going to feel the uterine contractions.

Having a baby is painful. If you get an epidural to numb you from waist down, that's done with a needle in you spine. Think about it. But what you should know is as soon as you see your beautiful baby, you forget all about how painful it was. You will remember it was painful but you won't be able to describe it because it is so worth it. Good Luck!

k, to be rudly blunt, your popping something out of your body thats the size of a freaking cantaloupe!!! of course its going to hurt, but from what I heard is that you don't remember the pain, you morely remember the experience. But with a anesthesia, I'd say you'll be fine. If millions of women have children every day I'm sure it'll be natural just like giving blood.

NNNNNOOOOOOOO Dont be worried at all everyone told me the same thing and i was terrified. it is such a wonderfulll experience i cant even explain it and to tell you the truth if i were to have another one i one probably be just as scared. It doesnt hurt as much as people say it will. i promise. Once it is all over with you will see that it wasnt so bad. I had every drug that they could give me and it worked. they should give you something to calm down wile your in there, before the epidural.

To be honest with you,the contractions are HORRIBLE!!! if u get the epidural *which is what the doc is referring to* u wont be able to feel anything below your waist, wont be able to move your legs or anything *just like if u were paralyzed. Until u get the epidural try taking deep breaths through the contractions,it will be over soon =)
Good Luck!!
