If so, why is she named Isabella? Is she Italian or Spanish?

Thanks for the answers so far.

I'm curious because I'm an Italian named Isabella and then all of a sudden my name is in the top ten of popular baby names in the U.S. for a few years.

I have a niece named Isabella, she's about one year old. She's a little Spanish, but her parents just liked the name. I know another little girl, about five, named Isabella. She is not Spanish or Italian at all, though. I think it is a beautiful name, but all of the sudden it has gotten soooo popular.

My daughter (5 months) is Isabella Grace. We call her "Ella." She is named after my 99 year old Grandmother who I love dearly. Grams was named Isabella after the Queen in Spain or Portugal - not sure which. But we are Irish not Italian or Spanish.

It is a beautiful name!

I don't BUT I know a little girl, 18 months, named Isabella. Her mother chose the name because it is a variation of her name, Elizabeth.

They aren't Italian or Spanish - just like the name. SD

You didn't ask about grandaughter, but my grandaughter is named Isabella. SHe is 4 years old. She is 1/4 spanish. My son loved the name. I don't. We call her Bella. Where he got the name I don't know, but I know it is very popular. Her last name is Gonzalez. So ,it sounds very spanish.
