Couple of questions about an acting headshot:

1. It's supposed to be in black and white, correct?
2. What size? (Is 8 by 11 right?)
3. Is the photo supposed to be big, or is it a tiny photo printed on a bigger paper?
4. Is your name supposed to be printed at the bottom?
5. If you're name is not is that bad?
6. What happens, when you staple your resume to the back, if the photo is bigger than the resume paper? Do you trim it down, or something?
7. Is it okay if the picture is kind of pixle-y?

Thank you!

Actor headshots are in Black & White, however, be sure to find out what is prefered by agents and casting directors in the city where you live, don't assume anything. The size is standard: 8x10 B&W. When you have a quantity of headshots (usually a quantity of 100) reproduced, make sure you use your "actor name" on front of the headshots.

If you go to a photo reproduction source that is familiar with printing actor headshots. Photographs must be clear and of good quality. The photos will represent you as an actor. Get the best photos you can afford. They must look professional.

Go to a photographer that is accustomed to photographing actors, in the city where you live. If you don't know of a photographer, call the Community and/or the professional Theaters in your city and ask which headshot they recommend. Do NOT use a wedding photographer, or the guy that makes Passport photos. They will not work for you as an actor.

The photo must fit EXACTLY the size of the 8x10 photograph!
Do whatever it takes to look professional. The resume and headshot represent you. Your resume must perfectly fit the 8x10 headshot.

You must find out, before you spend money, what is used and accepted by Talent Agents and Casting Directors in your city. Each city is different. Do your research!

We don't know where in the USA you live. It is preferable if you ask all of your questions to your Talent Agent or Acting Teacher or Actor friends. Only actors and Talent Agents in your city will know what the procedures are for your city for actors.
