Just curious if anyone knew why the NBA uses 12 minute quarters instead of 15 minute quarters like the NFL. The other two big leagues who use clocks have their quarters/periods equal to an hour just wondering why the NBA doesn't do the same. Is it a fatigue factor?

It's actually a holdover from the old BAA of the late 1940s.
The hockey owners who ran that league wanted an entertaining product but wanted a game with a comfortable timespan. With halftime, it's a little over an hour. Back then anyway.

fatigue factor? the NBA plays both ways offense and defense for their 48 minutes unlike your example of the NFL which has offensive and defensive players not to mention special teams so none of those groupss are coming anywhere close to 48 minutes

the 12 minute quarters where also used to help figure out the 24 second shot clock (30 possessions a quarter if all time used)

The WNBA plays two 20-minute halves and the NBA plays four 12-minute quarters.

Since basketball is a male-bonding ritual, they can't stand the bonding time to be more than 12 minutes or else they would just have to quit playing because they'd definitely be all stuck together.

It takes women a little longer to bond, so they can play longer together.

yes fatigue is a major reason, plus the longer the game the more risk of injury. Plus it keps the game more exciting because they only have 48 minutes to win.
