I have a "regular" that drinks at the bar where I work just about every day. She's only been in once with her partner, but I think this woman is amazing, and just about everyone in the bar I work at think she is, as well. We're in a fairly small, very 'country' town. However, both her and her partner are well liked and respected in the community. So - I suppose it isn't the point of it being a small town in general, but which small town and how the people in question handle the harassment.

I guess i'm just going to repeat some previous comments. It really depends on the town and the people. My partner and I live in a small town and we are out, no problems, but we would never dare be out at the town where he is from, people there are scary.

i saw a great documentary on logo called "gay in a small town"
it was amazing how these people found hope and light even in traditional small town settings, my partner is from a town of less than 100 and he was the town selectman, and out, so i think its possible but i also think you have to be the kinda person who is out but not nessacarily the walking pride parade
he is pretty conservative and always was, now we live in a small town but its such a mixed community that maybe 10% of our neighbors are gay, but we still get our share of problems

Well you know how small town folks can be they all know eachothers bizness and they all stick together, now unless there are more than a few gay/lesbian people who live there it wont make much difference they will be run out every time, so i suggest that they invite all their friends and have a huge *** gay pride party in the small town and show them homophobic fools what its like to be one of us.............of course they will see we are all fabulous!!! LOL......I KNOW IT'S ALL A DREAM, BUT YOU HAVE TO ADMIT IT WOULD BE COOL!!! good luck with this!!

When you say culture what exactly do you mean? You know when you use that word it refers to "accomplishments" such as the arts, music, knowledge, and civilization.

Celebrate their "culture"? They have their own culture? Weird. Maybe they could develop a unique language, set up some borders, become a country, and all the illegals could sneak in there...

Damn, it's crazy what people do to gays, just because they're doing something wrong doesn't mean you have to do something wrong. But I do agree, being gay isn't a culture, it's just some sick fetish some people have.
