What calculation do I use to determine the hardness of water, ppm???

One method is to use the equation

Total Hardness in ppm Carbonate = (ppm Calcium x 2.497)
+ (ppm Magnesium x 4.115) + (ppm Iron x 1.792)
+ (ppm Manganese x 1.822)

If you are doing an analysis, you have to use the equation for that specific analysis.
