Okay I have been playing trumpet for 5 years now and I have troubles getting up to high notes. I can get to C and I can usually make it to D but never any higher. What am i doing wrong?? Any tips to get up to a C comfortably and higher will be greatly appreciated!

You have to do lip slurs. lots and lots of lip slurs. that helps the strength of your lips. most people think if you just tighten your lips it does the same thing but it doesnt....that is pinching and is bad. that can bust your lip and make you go really sharp. DO LIP SLURS!!

Plus, if this is your 5th year, you could be out growing you trumpet and may need a pro. or intermediate tpt.

I've found that the most effective way to improve range is simply practicing it. If you play higher notes more often, they will eventually get easier to play. Try to go a little higher each time you pick up the horn. It'll take time, but if you practice it often, you will get beyond the D.

try drawing your lips really tight across your teeth, and blow the same as you do. this will control your air better and get you up there.
