If you live in Michigan, then you have probably done everything on my list. But this is where we usually go:
Upper Peninsula
Mackinac Island
Cedar Point
Detroit Zoo, just for the day
Sea World
Camping or staying in a cabin on Lake Michigan, or any other lake in Michigan
If you want to go somewhere new, Not near Michigan, try going on a Cruise. Our family has been on 3 cruises. They are a lot of fun, and you get to visit beautiful places. And cruises are not that expensive. Good Luck finding your vaccation spot, and have fun!!

You didn't give any information on what you like or how old your kids are, but my suggestion would be to go up to the Upper Penninsula, especially if you haven't been there before.

There are beautiful places to see, camp, swim, etc. It's a great place for a family get away , and it's not going to be expensive. Mackinaw Island, crossing over the Mackinaw Bridge is fun for kids if they haven't gone before. There are beautiful beaches with very few crowds on the north shore of both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Great campgrounds if you like to do that type of thing.

i'm sorry my answer ought to no longer be precise because I stay in Ohio so i don't be conscious of what it really is like is Michigan today plus i don't be conscious of the position you're so i visit't tell how some distance 6 hours is. perchance you should take them to Lake Erie. The Zoo? A museum of any kinds? A in door pool ( for sure no longer the completed day). i'd attempt to base it on a particular section yet do not opt to aimlessly pin aspect parts that should be close to to the position you stay (i'd somewhat be conscious of a prevalent section the position you stay((no longer the precise... u under no circumstances be conscious of what creepers there are obtainable))). Sorry if I sound like a brat or advise... it truly is no longer my purpose. i wish I helped in some type of way. =)

Gettysburg and Hersey, both in Penn. It's a lot of fun and the drive is great. It only take about 8-9 hours from Oakland County, Michigan.

Depends on what you want to do and how far you want to go.
I took my children to frankenmuth for the night at the Zender's waterpark hotel, they had a blast but it's definitely not worth more than a night.
I also took the children to The beach resort hotel in Traverse City in the summer months for the weekend and they loved it. If your children loves watersports any beach resort would do.
