Same as the foundation for being a liberal. One's own belief structure.

I laughed while I read the answers. President Bush spends like a crazed democrat, takes no responsibility, has grown the government and loves taking time off, yet republicans still stand behind him like he's doing a good job.

I don't think conservatism has changed
We believe in personal responsiblity
We believe welfare should be taken care of through charity and not government.
We believe in the legislation of morality. (murder,stealing, sodomy)
We believe in a strong military.
We believe in free trade.
We believe in minimal taxes.
We believe in freedom of religion, free speech, right to bear arms.
Pretty much everything that is in the bill of rights and constitution.

Being pro-embryo(pro-life), against gay marriage, against stem cell research, for smaller government, anti-drug, anti-gun control, probably wants prayer in school, big military, cut social programs, and restrict illegal immigration very much.
