Just go to Start--My Computer and then it should say right there under Devices With Removable Storage.. something like DVD-RW Drive ....Some Drives might just be a DVD Rom....

Just look at the front of the drive. If it says "DVD-RW" or "DVD-R", this it is a burner. If it just says "DVD" or "DVD Rom", then its only a reader.

The drive itself would say DVDRW on the door of the drive. OR when you open up my computer.. Where it lists your CD-ROM drives. One should read DVD-RW when there is no disc in the drive.
