cowboy magic works fine but it is expensive and you can only get it at tack or feed stores. mane and tail is inexpensive works just as well and i get it at the dollar store

I love the detangler and shine, for the mane and tail, and I love the spray to make them shiny. I use mane and tail for both the coat and the mane/tail, but have never tried cowboy magic shampoos. I've also used baby shampoo successfully, but my horse smelled like baby shampoo.
Horse shampoo is WAY too expensive most of the time, so I always dilute the shampoo in a bucket of water. You use less, it works just as well, and rinses out easier.

I have groomed and shown for over 20 years and tried everything on the market. And I always come back to the Orvis shampoo and the Suave conditioner. Orvis shampoo is good because a little goes a long way and the Suave is about the best conditioner I have ever found. Beats Mane & Tail and cost way less.

Before I saw the rest of your question, I was going to say I LOVE Cowboy Magic! The detangler is awesome, and the shampoo and conditioner are great too.
I also love the Vetrolin Bath shampoo. It has liniment in it, so it makes the horse feel great.

I love cowboy magic- its a bit pricey but gets your white as white as it can. It also comes in many different forms now to bring out shine and color in all horses.
However in the summer when some of my horses get bathed daily I don't use it. I'll use either Mane N Tail or EZall. Other good brands are White Knight and Chrome.

If you have a white-grey horse i would suggest QuikSilver, its made to naturally whiten the coat and remove those grass stains that seem like they NEVER come off!
If you have a darker to brown color horse i suggest Black Velvet Shampoo - it works to deepen & enhance black & dark brown coats!! It works really well and will make a nice coat!
Another good shampoo and condition is actually Herbal Essences, it can be used on horses and it smells SO good! it has a lot of herbs in it that are more natural for your horses skin =) Another human shampoo you can try is Mane and Tail!

Cowboy Magic is awesome, esp. the detangler&shine. but you can use Suave, the people's product, and it's very nice and cheap. that's what we use on our Olympic Dressage horses. Trust me, just looking at those horses shows you that they've got gooooood care!

I personally prefer people shampoo - sauve is the greatest and i think it makes them the cleanest and shiniest - not to mention the fact that it is cheap!! Horse shampoos are all hype unless you are buying something that is antibacterial......
