Ryan did not chose to leave the show, it was the creator's choice to off one of the main characters, something they planned on at the beginning of the series from what I heard. I assume they knew it would create a new interest in the series to kill off a main cast member. Ryan found out at the before the season began, but the rest of the cast found out at the table read of the episode he died in.

He left the show to go to college. Maybe a good idea considering that in the television business its good to have something to fall back on. Nothing wrong with a good education. I did love his character, its not the same without him!

I don't know that must have been the end of his contract with them or he really wasn't very important in the show so they kick him off that's my guess!!!!

Maybe it wasn't his decision, he probably was fired for his sub-par acting talent
