If I read about someone in the newspaper being raped or murdered it shocks me or saddens me and then I wonder why such a thing has to happen and I wish that things could be different. I want to change things. But I know people that will be saddened or shocked but move on with life. I eventually move on myself but I always feel like I wish that I could help to change these things. And Is it wrong to want someone that loves you for who you are and not just a body part? People think that I am asexual or something because I don't believe that sex is the most important thing in life and that I'd rather get to know someone. I'd rather have a complete person.

Your empathy and compassion are expressions of who you really are. You may possibly be a candidate to work in social services, activism, human services, or any field that uplifts mankind.
There's not a thing wrong with you!
All too often you'll read questions involving lost love and people lamenting and eulogizing relationships gone bad.
You however, are profoundly enlightened!
You have an awareness that is similar to that of a sage.
For you have realized that, your deepest and most profound love must be self-love.
Congrats!
Now, go and fulfill your destiny! With your concept of self-love you can empower others and draw your true love as you grow in knowledge and experience.
Do not impose self-limitations--find your purpose--experience your dream. Give love and be a blessing to others! You have a head-start!

I don't believe that there is anything wrong with you. I feel the exact same way....my boyfriend and i have known each other since i was 10 years old, almost 7 years, and we didn't even start dating until 3 months ago. God created a man and a woman to be together consensually after marriage. Any other time, it is sad. It is sad that our society has become so used to the images and thoughts that surround sex and are no longer shocked by anything. If you really feel like you want to help, try getting in touch with your local crisis pregnancy center. Almost all towns of a decent size have them, and they usually are looking for volunteers to do something - whether it be passing out flyers or answering phones. As far as the murdering parts goes, unless you enter into the law enforcement business, theres not much you can do. Just be careful - learn ways to protect yourself, and share that with others around you. Maybe you could get involved with a suicide hotline or something.

I hope that i have managed to bring some light into the issue for you. It's nice to hear of someone else who still feels that pain for other people around them! And it's nice to know that someone else in this world cares about more than what they can get in their pants!

Okay, first - breathe. You're perfectly normal. You have no disorder. You have problems like everyone else but they are not pathological - which means they don't cause significant interference in areas of your life and are therefor not a clinical concern.
Now, here is a relaxation exercise:
Scrunch all the muscles in your body including your eye-lids and inhale, then relax and exhale as you think the word RELAX. Do this ten minutes a day. After a week of practice you will be able to go to a private area and do this once and you will be relaxed. After a month of practice you will be able to just think RELAX and you will be relaxed - but you must continue to practice in private.
Remember, murders and rapes have actually gone down, but reporting has gone up - we have become a Jerry Springer watching society - it's unfortunate but it'll pass.
And you might consider what I do: Not watching the news, or only watching The Daily Show on the comedy channel - to spite the source it is very informative.

It's a combination of empathy, sympathy, and sensitivity. Why do people cry when something bad or sad happens during a movie, which isn't real? It's because they have those qualities as it appears you do.

As for the sex part, there's nothing wrong with you. In fact, you're going about it the right way, i.e. wanting to experience emotional intimacy before physical intimacy.

There's nothing at all wrong with you. You're a good, kind and caring person who shows compassion for other people. You're right, sex isn't the most important thing in life, otherwise people would be in bed 24 hours a day. You hang on for your complete person, they're out there. Good luck

There is nothing wrong with you, its right to feel shocked when you see people hurt in the paper. I'm less emotional than most. but still react when it is a large number of people or someone I know.

It is good to want to make a difference, and their are many like minded people out there.

You'll someday find the relationship that is right for you, give it time.

there is nothing wrong with you. a lot of people feel deep sadness when something bad happens to others (even others they don't know) As for the reference to sex: sex is not the most important thing in life but it plays a very big role in expressing your love for someone. It is ok to feel differently about this, I suggest you find a therapist to talk to if things are troubling you.

Just remember, your feelings are valid and you have every right to talk to someone about them.

I dont know what your problem is . I see nothing wrong with you. If you Raped or killed somebody then I would see something wrong with you. Stop beating yourself up for things you have no control over.. Its not your fault you have to share this World with Scum , Murderers, Child Abusers, Rapists, Muggers , Scam Merchants, Sexual Sickos etc etc etc. Leave all those listed to God. He will take good care of them in his own time. Thats what I believe anyway..

You are not alone in thinking this. I think like this to. When I see something on the news about children been hurt by people it takes me weeks to forget about it. Since you cant change it ,maybe you could get involved in helping with the after math of these tragedy's.

there's is nothing wrong with you . you are very compassionate . i feel the same way because i have first hand experience with this . it breaks my heart to the point that even my husband gets upset and tells me that it's not really me but somebody else . i suggest you do volunteer work to help out . that will lessen the sadness a bit because you are helping and you know somehow you are making a difference .
