What were some of the conditions that soldiers on the front line had to face?

This question is for World War I... Sorry for all the world War I questions, I just don't get so please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You lived in a big ditch, when it rained it filled with water and you got wet. And the trench became a mud pit. When it snowed you froze. The enemy would try and take your trench, you had to kill him. Then you would try and take his trench and would realize that you wanted back to the safety of your trench.
