I would like the strips to glue down very flat. I am gluing plastic onto plastic mostly.

I've had good results with gluing slick surfaces with the Goop glues (Amazing Goop, Shoe Goo, E6000, Household Goop, Crafters' Goop, etc.) They're generally available at hardware stores or home improvement stores or the hardware department of a larger discount store -- in the US, that is. I don't know if they're available internationally.

Super glue will hold quickly but you have to have steady hands. It doesn't have any re-positional
qualities. I recommend Aleene's Tacky glue.
You may need some clamps to hold down the
plastic strips until the glue dries but it will allow
to you to get the strips the way you want them.
