Yes, we should be more like France. They have many laws on what they can eat but its for the health of the people. It doesn't make the food less tasteful but healthier. We should look up to the healthy countries and be more like them. People don't know how to control themselves and school food is terrible. It's sad that kids have to eat such bad food and giving kids bad eating habits.

Hello,
I saw SuperSize Me and some parts were gross.
But NO, I do not want our government involved in our lives at all. With our government involvement that would equal Socialism. Is ths something you really want?
Now, I know obese people are costing the health care system in a big way, but once our US Government takes over, and they are, bit by bit, i.e. smoking restrictions, ( I do not smoke BTW), travel restrictions, you name it, you will be sorry.
Who then will be crying, "Where is my freedom"? We have allowed our "leadership" to take it away.
The Lemmings that many of us are, are allowing the USA to take away our libery and freedoms, i.e. 9/11 happened and now there are all these "security" restrictions and it is going to get worse before it gets better.
Take for instance 2008, coming up real soon, we the American peolple, will have to carry a National ID to travel anywhere in the United States, especially traveling from State to State.
Oh, and the VeriChip or RFID Chip as it is called will not be an "option" pretty soon. Right now, it is an option under the guise to protect our children and pets.
Please, please, do some research on this topic.
It may save you and your families lives.
God Bless,
Hope this helps you........................ : -O

I know what you are getting at, childhood obesity is very alarming but having the government involved in everything is my worst nightmare. When people are apathetic, lazy or unable to step up the plate the government swoops in because they have to or want to and takes control. People end up losing that control. For example in my city if you don't mow your lawn eventually the city comes in and does it and fines you for it. If you have graffiti on your property and you don't remove it the city does it and fines you for it.
To get back to your question I think individuals, people and their community need to get together, voice their opinions, make decisions and make changes. I think a lot fewer children would be obese if their parents were vocal about the food they eat and the foods available in schools. If their community made changes concerning the amount of exercise children got and the kinds of sports they were offered.

No. That movie helped educate people and that was good. Some people probably didn't know that what they were eating was as bad as it really was but now they do and hopefully people made a change to their diets. It should be up to the people what decisions we make as long as people are informed. I think that the government should stay out. If someone knows that a meal has over 2,500 calories and still decides to eat it for every meal it's their own fault for gaining weight and becoming obese. The same principal should apply to other things as well.

No, it's a personal choice (by most) and is thus a personal issue.
If Person A can eat 3 burgers a day and remain physically fit, while Person B cannot, neither should be punished. They must find their own way.

the only thing the government should do, is give us the health information of eating such food. as far as stepping in and making us eat better, no, that would be a violation of our rights according to the constitution.
