College, or any type of higher education, is worth what you put into it. Here I’m not talking money. After you decide what you can afford, seek colleges that are in that category. Before you do, decide what your goals are. What is it you really want to do. Attending that higher education is part of your effort to reach those goals.
It really doesn’t matter what you are trying to do, you have to get the tools to do what you want. Higher education can help you do that but you have to decide what you want, investigate which schools provide what you want, select the best one you can afford, and when you get there do everything you can to learn what you are paying to get.

You could go to some kind of trade school or beauty school, but furthering your education will help you earn up to 80% more money than stopping after high school. If you think the long run you will be able to earn money and you will be more educated in a career you want. Plus, my mom was a college drop out because she thought she was going to be a farmer's wife the rest of her life. To this day she regrets dropping out because life throws you for twists and turns.

College is a very important step in helping you get to where you want to in life. You don't have to go to college to be successful, but going to college will help more than not going. You'll have to be a strong minded, ambituous and highly esteemed individual to make it in a world that provides less and less 2nd chances these days.
1st ask yourself what is it that you want to do professionally in life, what type of lifestyle are you expecting to have. If you want to be in medicine you'll need a degree, if you want to be a lawyer, you'll need a degree, a teacher you'll need a degree. If you want to be a secretary/admin maybe not, a cashier in retail maybe not. Could you do everything you wanted to do with the salary for those versus having one of the degree paying jobs, pay all your debts, bills and care for a family?
College isn't a waste of money as long as you take it seriously. Select a profession that you will enjoy so you won't loose interest. Select a profession that isn't crowded and has growth potential such as opportunities for advancement.
Don't just pay attention to salary, you'll need benefits, dental, medical, retirement, etc. Talk to your parents, uncles, aunts. Ask them if they had everything to do over, would they do anything different. Within the next 10 years, it will cost a lot more money to take care of yourself, the cost of food, gas, and energy is going up. You're going to need a good job to handle all of that.
